This is Kennedy, one of my best friends. I went on spring break with her and a few mutual friends from our hockey team. We spent the entire week together. The other girls always wanted to sit in the sun and tan, or play on their phones, or sleep. Kennedy and I had the same idea and the same energy the whole trip. We wanted to go on late night drives, build sandcastles, go fishing, and ride the waves. No matter how cranky the other girls got from feeling sun-exhaustion, Kennedy and I were always happy and upbeat. She is a very fiery, creative, exciting person with a good heart. She means a lot to me because she gives me the brutally honest, tough love that I need to hear! In the setting I photographed her, it was hard to follow some rules because of the simplicity the water and sky brings in the background. First I tried centering the horizon line, but I didn't like the look of it so I lowered it and tried the rule of thirds to position Kennedy. The lighting was easy enough because I wanted to get a subtle spotlight from the setting sun.
